Fashions by Valentina Kobtseva (from "Sputnik", November 1967)

"These two ensembles are called 'The Red Devils' - the title of a silent film about the romantic, adventurous days of the Civil War in Russia. The jaunty hats are up-to-the-minute, yet they also hold a flavour of the helmets worn by the Red Army men at that time. Again, the coat with two rows of shiny buttons is more or less the old army greatcoat brought up to date. There is a shoulder bag - the old map-case modernised, while the knee-length socks and low-heeled shoes combine to produce an almost high-boot silhouette."

"Ryazan Madonna: a stylish, flowing silhouette with a faint suggestion of the traditional of the Ryazan area, an impression strengthened by the bright colours."

"This is from a set of styles for the younger woman entitled 'Komsomol Construction'. The jacket is reminiscent of an army tunic, but lines are softened. It is worn with a short straight skirt, woollen stockings of the same colour, knitted on thick needles like those worn in the Soviet Union in the 'thirties, and high boots. The bag is the map-case type."

Fashions by Vyacheslav Zaitsev (from "Sputnik", May 1967)

From the spring and summer collection at the USSR Fashion House, as exhibited at Expo-67 in Montreal. Designed by Vyacheslav Zaitsev of the USSR Fashion House in "a blindingly pure fiery orange, an angry red, and a green that is full of the promise of life and eternal renewal."

"The idea of this jazzy ensemble for house-wear, designed by Slava Zaitsev, was prompted by the material itself and its riotous colours. Turkish-trousered pyjamas in soft silk are worn beneath a slim satin coat, and the finishing touches are the oriental-style headgear and slippers made from the pyjama material."

Nelli Arshavskaya

"Op with a dash of trad - the folksy element comes through clearly, Nelli Arshavskaya having been influenced here by the old Russian wooden folk toys. She rather fancies these two ensembles for après-ski, but does not insist that this is the only occasion on which they can be worn."

Ira Krutikova

"'Butterfly' is a favourite of designer, Ira Krutikova. Its purpose i a little difficult to define, perhaps, but the designer herself rather fancies it for receiving guests in the garden. It consists of a great circular cape worn over a leotard in stretch material. Gold sandals are sewn on to the feet of the leotard."

"An evening dress for a grand occasion. In wool crepe, it is based on a traditional Russian style." (From 'Sputnik', October 1968)

"Dress for day wear, sporty but elegant, so that a girl can go on to her date after work in it without a qualm." (From 'Sputnik', October 1968)

"A cape is the thing when autumn days begin to get a little colder. We are likely to see many of them in Moscow before long." (From 'Sputnik', October 1968)
